ALL SCHOOL – 15 years ago Trent Buckner sat in a Country Day pre-school class and began his education.
On Thursday, Trent, now a senior “Lifer’’ at Country Day, returned to Terri Zimmerman’s classroom. Along with a dozen other “Lifers,’’ he viewed videos of their earliest years with Zimmerman and was reminded, first hand, of how far you can grow in one school.
Trent said he’s remained close to all of the “Lifers’’ as they’ve traveled through the Lower, Middle and Upper schools and has always appreciated being able to visit with his earlier teachers during visits to the Lower and Middle Schools after he had moved up.
“Some kids wanted to leave for bigger ponds,’’ he said, “but I always felt this was the right place for me. It’s been perfect.’’
But he’s ready for bigger ponds now and has chosen the University of Colorado.
Cheyenne Giesecke, also a “Lifer’’ senior, credited Terri Zimmerman with creating a bond between these students that remained tight throughout their education at Country Day.
“She taught us how to come together,’’ Cheyenne said. “We are a really connected class of seniors.’’
For for at least one day, Zimmerman had some of her earliest students back in her chairs -- but they had grown considerably since then.
"I can still see the same kids inside,'' she said.
