Tuesday May 22nd, it turns out, was an historic day for La Jolla Country Day School. As the school day ended, as the echoes of the bell tolling the last day of senior classes still echoed through the campus, virtually all of the staff and faculty gathered near the amphitheater to mark the end of eight extraordinary Country Day careers. As the ceremony unfolded, the audience grew as former students just back from college and retired faculty re-joined the community to express their appreciation for a group of retirees who collectively have given more than 200 years of joyous toil for this school.
It was a day in which the lines between past and present blurred, a reminder that the history of a school is not a long line of receding years, but in many ways is more of a valley – a place inhabited by students and teachers who, over time, are reminded that the impact of their time here resonates through years and generations.
I encourage you to share this moment through the video produced (above) from this special event.
