Anthony Torres '10 Flourishing At Iowa
Anthony (A.T.) Torres is off to a great start at the University of Iowa. Although the Big Ten baseball season doesn't begin until February 2012, the Hawkeyes are already working out and practicing daily. Due to an injury of the upper-class catcher, Anthony is seeing more playing time then he ever imagined. He recently made the 28 man roster that was approved to travel for a short four game tournament. The Hawkeyes were on the road and visited Missouri and Nebraska. Anthony played in every game.
What's really amazing is that A.T. led the team in hitting. His *B.A. was .500 and had an **O.B.P of .600 in the four game tournament. He still has the "Hot Bat" even against D-1 pitchers throwing in the 90's.
Anthony was well received at Iowa and is really enjoying the campus, his classes, the student body and of course Iowa City.
A.T.'s 1st two run double.
During an inter-squad game at Iowa (above photo) Anthony played well according to LJCDS Head Coach John Edman who was at the game. Anthony really enjoyed the visit and of course, the free dinner. Coach Edman toured campus and was introduced to the Players and Coaches.
Anthony would like to thank everyone for all the calls, text messages and most of all those who stopped to visit while traveling this summer.
He hopes you will get a chance to watch him play this year on the (BTN) Big Ten Network which will air several baseball games this season.
