Fourth Grade Essay Contest Winners

Author Kekla Magoon spends a day at LJCDS

Speaking about her award-winning 2009 book The Rock and the River, Kekla Magoon engaged Middle School students and teachers in a dialog about the important civil rights events of 1968. This coming of age story, set in turbulent social times, explores the choices young people made as they struggled against prejudice and inequality. Keep a Poem in Your Pocket

On a beautiful spring day, Lower School students carried poems in their pockets, which they recited when asked. Popular poets this year included Emily Dickinson and Shel Silverstein. Robert Frost, Walt Whitman and e.e. cummings poems were also heard as poetry filled the air.See More

AP Biology Class Visits the Tide Pools

The AP Biology classes celebrated the end of a busy year by visiting the tide pools at Tourmaline Beach.  The highlight of the trip was finding a collection of brittle stars!  There are great low tides in the morning all weekend--take some time out and enjoy the San Diego coast this weekend and go tide pooling with your friends and family!Find more photos like this on Torrey TimesSee More
